Agricultural Improvement Is Taken For Granted
Ames Iowa AP R E Buchanan director of the agricultural experiment station at Iowa State college says many people overlook the need for planning research and testing to improve farming. He notes the Boone and Tama oat varieties as state leaders and cites the rarity of successful new oat introductions among 1500 tested varieties, with only one crossing well with Richland seed to resist stem rust and smut.
