McDonald’s works to reassure amid E coli outbreak
McDonald’s sought to reassure customers as federal investigators pursued the source of a deadly E coli outbreak linked to Quarter Pounder burgers. The CDC reported at least 49 illnesses in 10 states, with one death and 10 hospitalizations. A FDA probe pointed to fresh onions served raw on Quarter Pounders as a likely source, prompting removal of the sandwiches in affected areas while the company seeks a new regional onion supplier.
