Walter Burton, 75, editor of the Daily Gate City in Keokuk since 1916, died of a heart attack at 12:05 a.m. Thursday after recently recovering from a serious illness. Born in New York City, he moved to California in 1907 and came to Keokuk in 1932. He previously worked for the Troy Daily Press, San Francisco Chronicle, and Morning Union in Grass Valley.
