Dallas AP report says Speaker Sam Rayburn and Texas leaders launched a Lyndon Johnson campaign effort tied to Czech groups with a Sunday press event. Rayburn stated Johnson’s agreement to support the drive while Texas figures including J Ed Connally and Byron Skelton attended.
New York Gov. Nelson Rockefeller plans a national swing starting in the Midwest with stops in New Jersey California Oregon and Rhode Island as part of a push to gain publicity and support for a possible Republican presidential bid.
