Full Aid to Britain and War Debated by Wilson
Hugh R. Wilson told the Cedar Rapids Executives Club that full aid to Britain short of war is essential but warned a war declaration could draw the United States into a two-front war with Japan. He urged exploring steps between neutrality and belligerency and cautioned against abandoning lend-lease goals while outlining risks if Germany gains control of raw materials. He argued Britain must have air superiority before any invasion and predicted U.S. action without a formal declaration could still be viewed as war by opponents.
