Musk Ox of Canada and its Arctic Habits
The musk ox, once across northern Asia, now found in northern Canada and Greenland, stands about six feet long and three and a half feet high. Husked by thick hair, its horns reach 24 to 27 inches in males, and herds of up to 100 oxen roam its Arctic range. They graze on moss and grass, use noses to sweep away deep snow, endure winters as cold as 50 to 75 degrees below zero, and flesh proves tasty for both Eskimos and explorers.
