London AP report on the Big Four foreign ministers conference as Molotov blasts western powers over peace aims while Britain and France push for unity. Leaders clash over Germany recovery and the Soviet role, with deputies ordered to proceed on the six point agenda.
Britain's Labour party held Gravesend in a tight by election, 24,692 votes to 23,017 for Conservative Frank Taylor. The result, a 1,675 majority, kept Labour's record of never losing a Commons seat since 1945 and offered a barometer of national government strength amid tough economic times. Similar by elections were set for East Edinburgh and Howdenshire with Gravesend the hottest campaign since 1945.
Sen Ball accuses the Truman administration of a blitzkrieg toward quick action on 597 million dollars in emergency aid to France Italy and Austria. He says Congress will set its own pace amid debates and amendments as both chambers work on the authorization bill and separate appropriation measures. Lovett notes new factors in Greece aid and possible additional funds.
New York AP report says James C. Petrillo heads the AFM ended a ruling barring musicians on cooperative network programs. The move lets union members work on such shows without local standby musicians, with contracts due for renegotiation by January 31. ABC MBS CBS plan to employ musicians on cooperative programs. In Flint, Michigan, four month old Denny Baker died of pneumonia in a windswept tent home where nine siblings, ages four months to thirteen years, huddled under snow-covered blankets after their house burned last spring. Police reported they were found shivering Tuesday as drifting snow covered a slit in the tent. Denny was taken to a hospital but did not survive. The Bakers, unemployed parents, continued living in the tent with the children.
WAUPUN Wis April prison officers said that 69 prisoners who led a mutiny this week aired varied complaints about many aspects of prison life but had no shared or overarching single grievance.

President Truman seeks a full list of officers with tax free disability discharges since V J Day as 350 plus generals receive disability pay. Vaughn notes possible action to limit tax free medical retirements, while cautioning no immediate move.
Santa Claus will arrive at 9 30 a m to officially launch Cedar Rapids Christmas festivities. He will be carried through the loop with Superman in the largest welcome parade yet staged. Children in costume gather at the coliseum for registration and tickets to the stage show after the parade.
Cedar Rapids bus service will not operate through the loop during the Santa Claus parade Friday. E A Prochaska, manager, says eastbound buses will run between Second avenue and First street SW with eastern terminals, and westbound buses will run from Second avenue and Fifth street SE with western terminals. After the parade, buses will shuttle into the business district to carry spectators home.
The parade features boys and girls marching to two bands and two drum and bugle corps. Thousands line the business district to see floats and storybook characters including the Red Feather Train Dagwood Blonnie Lil Abner and Hairless Joe. Santa Claus arrives last amid the Moose girls drum corps, possibly by sleigh or private plane, just before 9 30 a m as Cedar Rapids drum and bugle corps begin their march.
NEW YORK UP The Ag Department rescinded plans to destroy a seven pound shipment of Scottish haggis for the Feast of the Haggis of the St Andrews Society of Illinois. Scots at LaGuardia protested as a Pan American clipper carried the meal to Chicago for a dinner. The bureau initially feared foot and mouth disease and declared the haggis unfit for animals. Black, president of the Chicago society, urged a day of mourning, while officials said the haggis would be inspected and may be shipped to Chicago if approved.
A 59 year old Williamsburg farm hand named Alex Moynihan collapsed at Danceland as he stood at the bar and died en route to St Luke's hospital. Deputy Coroner Marvin Smylie said death was due to a heart attack after a chronic ailment. Moynihan, a bachelor, had just arrived at Danceland when the fatal attack occurred and died instantly. His body was taken to Williamsburg to be with relatives.
Pleasanton California AP report says Mrs Earl Derry attempted to grab slipping jelly jars from the front seat while passing a truck on a hill road. The car swerved into the truck, struck a guard rail, and hung over a 50 foot embankment. She suffered shock and a fractured collarbone.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints plans a caravan of trucks to deliver food to Navajo reservations in southern Utah hit by early snow. Reports from Blanding say Indians surprised by storms, lacking winter provisions and hogans. Two truckloads of food were being loaded from the bishop's warehouse.
New York report says Mrs. Jean Tilton 21 a British war bride arrived aboard the Marine Jumper to join her husband Sgt. Robert Tilton in Nebraska and fainted after viewing Brooklyn.
Newspaper columnist Drew Pearson, originator of the Friendship Train, telegraphed The Gazette to thank the paper for aiding Western European food collections. He said the drive greatly exceeded expectations and noted a forthcoming pictorial display in Italian and French to show how Americans contributed as Europe rebuilds after war.
Eastern Iowa highways faced fresh slush and slick spots as Thanksgiving travel continued. Cedar Rapids patrol reported half to one inch of slush with temperatures dropping to near 18 degrees tonight, while areas east and south showed more ice and new snow. Highway crews cleared some slush, but motorists were warned to stay alert for slick patches as forecasts called for continued cold and light snow.

Gas and public workers also protesting amid rumors of revolutions in France and Italy. Government mobilizes troops and expels Soviet citizens amid tensions.
Ottawa reports United States Minister Julian Harrington announced Dana Doten, attache at the U S embassy in Ottawa, has been recalled after more than five years. He led file prep on Edmon Turcotte of Montreal whose Chicago consul general appointment stirred a diplomatic tempest. Doten was ordered back with a transport warrant to Vermont.
Sydney reports crewmen of the American tanker Cedar Breaks seized Dr. Johannes Heinrich Becker once the No. 1 Nazi in Australia after he had evaded Commonwealth security for weeks.
The Cedar Rapids population, not yet officially counted for 1950, is estimated at 73,027 for 1947. Estimates from utilities, City Assessor Jim Scolaro, and post office Superintendent Robert T. Lubbock converge on 73,000 plus. The Lubbock survey, completed yesterday, uses sound data to affirm 73,027.
