Paris AP reports France called up 80 000 additional conscripts to bolster forces amid an epidemic of strikes crippleing economic life. The cabinet met over four hours, raising total mobilized divisions to 15 in a week to confront the crisis.
General de Gaulle arrived back in Paris from a high country retreat on Friday. A spokesman said he would be in power within a couple of weeks.
Government sacks 66 police commissioners and mobilizes conscripts as strikes spread through private industry. A national strike committee built by Communist unions clashes with rival labor forces, while rail traffic slows and newsprint runs short.
