James D. Kennedy former Cedar Rapids city parks commissioner and Linn county supervisor died at 7 a.m. Wednesday at age 85. He served as parks commissioner from 1922 to 1928 and held multiple public posts including city construction inspector street commissioner finance commissioner and county supervisor. Born January 12 1862 in Johns town New York he moved to Cedar Rapids in 1888. Surviving are two sisters and a niece with a son and wife predeceased. Funeral services will be at Turner chapel at 3 30 p.m. Friday with burial in Linwood Cemetery.
