Greenway could boost development with riverfront plan
February concepts from a city hired firm estimate a $262,800 update by Michael Van Valkenburgh Associates for a greenway that could add $60 million in annual economic impact, create 1,300 jobs, and attract 1.5 million visitors yearly. The study cites riverfront parks as development catalysts and envisions future park investments triggering $250 million to $500 million in new development, with revenue avenues from events, concessions, and parking. City officials favor a public private partnership to fund ongoing operations and maintenance as the plan moves toward reality.
