Jobs Service Manager Frowns On Moving In With Relief Agencies
The Iowa State Employment service in Cedar Rapids opposes moving into the old post office building to avoid ties with relief agencies and to attract all types of applicants. Director Benjamin W. Robinson asked the city council to pay $420 for annual rent, noting the service maintains its independence from NRA WPA and other programs. In 1935 the agency secured 3,303 employments and by now has 1,800 jobs filled this year. Council members offered no comment.
