Committee urges standard readings and bonded dairy enforcement
A committee calls for monthly operating statements to guide enforcement, standardized test readings and weights, and bonded civil service state dairy employees. It urges county planning groups to study butterfat marketing costs, Iowa State College to collect data on cream truck costs, and notes haulers resist efficiency gains by threatening route transfers. Wickard On Parity Insights From Hutchinson Speech
Claude Wickard, secretary of agriculture, said parity is a key objective of national farm programs and will be pursued alongside soil conservation. He noted progress since 1933, acknowledged setbacks like the Supreme Court ruling on the original Triple A, and said the President expects basic crops to reach parity this year with wheat farmers likely to receive parity when accounting for loans and payments. He urged support for farm organizations and Congress, warning against high prices without supply adjustment and avoiding another farm board crisis.
