Kagemusha becomes epic tale of image and reality in feudal Japan
A Kurosawa epic set in 16th century Japan follows a thief who impersonates the dying warlord Shingen to preserve the Takeda clan. The impostor must hide the death, manage armies behind an image of invincibility, and face trials from Shingen’s son while a grand battle unfolds. Nakadai delivers a striking dual performance.
