Two injured in First Avenue collision at 15th Street SE
Glenn Eisentrager a 66 year old resident of 375 16th St SE was listed in good condition at St Luke's Hospital after a collision Wednesday evening at First Avenue and 15th Street SE. Eisentrager turned left onto 15th Street, sending his westbound pickup into the eastbound vehicle driven by Paul Akers 28 of hearing. Akers charged with improper registration. Another injury, Curtis J McDonough 44 of 4501 Council St NE, was hospitalized Wednesday night and released Thursday after a crash at Bever Avenue and 16th Street SE involving Chris A Little 24 of 1532 Fifth Ave SE. The police said the McDonough accident is under investigation.

East Central District shines at Iowa Special Olympics meet
Nearly 3,000 participants including about 300 from East Central competed in Des Moines for the 12th annual Iowa Special Olympics, with track and field, swimming, bowling, and Frisbee on Monday and Tuesday. The 46-42 vote with 12 absent kept the Early Termination of Pregnancy Clinic funded, as the House moves through a $691 million higher education appropriations measure. Rep. Smalley cited 200 of 2400 abortions at the clinic in 1980 funding indigent care and urged review of public funding.

Suit filed in man’s death after camper explosion
The death of Cedar Rapids man Lee Lightfoot after a 1980 camper unit exploded is the basis for a Linn County suit against Johnny Ketelsen Recreational Vehicles Inc. and Heritage Recreation Vehicles LTD. Damages of 500000 are sought for pain and suffering and loss to his future estate. Lightfoot bought a camper July 1, 1980. it exploded July 8, 1980, with severe burns leading to his Aug. 22, 1980 death.
