Northwood-Kensett student suspended for gun on school grounds
A 17-year-old Northwood-Kensett student who brought a handgun to a school on April 20 was suspended for the rest of the year and placed in an alternative program. Superintendent Jerry McIntire said a board hearing found a violation of weapons policy. the student may return next fall. No charges filed.

New Marycrest President Picked In Davenport
Pat De Luca will become the 10th president of Marycrest International University in Davenport, taking office this summer after leading the North Scott School District for 14 years. He will speak at commencement, replaces Laurence Conner who left in 2000 to join the University of Bridgeport. De Luca earned a PhD from Wisconsin Madison in 1980.
