Administration fears tight veto override vote on farm support bill

Washington officials concede the House override of President Ford's veto on a farm supports bill may be closer than expected. Admin aide John Foltz cautions it could be a squeaker, with 40 to 45 votes needed from a 70 member Democratic bloc. The bill raises supports for grains, wheat, cotton, soybeans, milk, and dairy. Ford argues the measure adds 1.4 billion to the deficit and risks higher food prices and lost foreign markets.

Banvel often controls hens better than 2,4-D though drift is a concern. Livestock re-entry times and milk or meat residue limits vary by chemical and rate.
