Mediator Recommends 50 Dollar Raise for Cedar Rapids Teachers
Mediator Thomas Gilroy of the University of Iowa recommends a $9,050 starting salary for Cedar Rapids teachers, warning the schedule may not remain competitive for experienced staff. The board may act at Monday's meeting, with a $50 rise over its final offer but below the $9,400 sought by the teachers association. Present base pay is $8,000, and the proposal exceeds settlements in Des Moines Davenport Waterloo and Sioux City. Davenport leads at $9,000.
