Io Restrictions On Legislature Call, Erbe Says

Atty. Gen. Norman Erbe states there is no legal restriction on Governor Loveless calling the Iowa legislature back into session immediately if he desires. Loveless plans a special session to extend the 234 percent sales tax two more years and would veto the bill when it reaches his desk. Vacancies in either house would trigger special elections, but none exist now. The last special session was in 1947 under Gov. Blue to cut income taxes.
