Reports from Chicago and Cedar Rapids note mixed demand, higher weights, and steady to weaker prices across multiple classes as buyers weigh futures and seasonal shifts.
The market showed varied demand across cattle and hogs. Steers and yearlings traded near $890 to $1050 with some lots advancing to $1115, while cows remained fair and bids steady to weak. Hogs receipts around 3 800 with weights above 270 pounds selling slowly. lighter weights brought stronger prices, cattle bulls and feeders varied by weight and quality, lambs and sheep also reported selective demand.
Cattle receipts around 500 with steady to firm demand. Steers and heifers mixed but mostly steady with good loads and top quotes around 1050 to 1125 for fed stock, yearlings near 925 to 1025, cows $750 to $900. Calves 250 to 225 pounds steady, vealers 1950 region, stockers firm at about 1000.
Local hog market remains steady with all grades unchanged and long-haul rates steady. Cattle pricing shows choice to prime steers around 11.00 to 12.50, yearlings 9.00 to 12.50, and heifers 9.75 to 11.50, with calves at 1100 to 1100 dollars for 160-200 pound stock and various ranges for other weights.
