Mrs. Weems on 1208 First Street NW slipped feet first into an open laundry chute under construction. Her husband Leonard grabbed her arms to halt the fall and police freed her with help from officers. Fire rescue was not required and she was not injured.
A Palo mother and her 12 year old son escaped a blaze at a trailer on Chain Lakes road after an oil heater exploded around 4 15 am Sunday. The family lost all possessions and their dog and cat perished. Deputy Burt reported the Craig Scott family was briefly inside the trailer near Palo when the blast occurred. The son was dressed but the mother fled in night clothes. The couple were away at work and the home was destroyed.
A firefighter suffered smoke inhalation while battling a blaze. Responders assisted him at the scene and he received medical evaluation as firefighters contained the flames.
