Bill Would Let Junior Colleges Move From Area District
Senator Vern Lisle says his bill would allow residents of the local community district housing the junior college to vote to withdraw from the area district. The measure would end the three fourths mill property tax to the area district for local residents, if they choose to leave. Lisle cites difficulties obtaining full budgeting figures from Area XI officials in Council Bluffs and requests for an outside audit to verify funds for the Clarinda facility. If figures remain unavailable, the bill could enable Clarinda J C to separate from Area XII.
