Two Major Saigon Area Battles Drive Kills
American forces repelled an ambush 35 miles northwest of Saigon and trapped about 400 enemy fighters in a fierce clash that left 76 communists dead. In the southwest Mekong Delta clash, 57 more guerillas fell as reinforcements repelled a 300-strong battalion. US units counted 133 guerrilla dead in the two days of fighting amid a lull in shelling around Saigon.

Meningitis Fatal to Cedar Rapids Teen Daniel Kohl
Daniel Kohl a 16 year old Washington high school student died in a Cedar Rapids hospital from spinal meningitis not believed to be epidemic. He woke with a headache and a temperature of 105 degrees and was isolated at St Luke's before passing at 6 10 a m Wednesday. His death followed a brief improvement noted late Tuesday.

Armed man beats youth during station robbery
A service station attendant was beaten and robbed of 150 dollars at Owens Oil Co. in Cedar Rapids at about 5 10 am. Pat Borschel reported a revolver blow to the head and kicks during the hold up. Two suspects fled with cash and possibly cigarettes. Police had earlier nabbed Isaiah Martin after a car stop linked to the oil theft.
