IO. 1974 Camp Good Health Welcome Regardless of where they come from, visitors arriving at the Cedar Rapids Municipal airport literally will find a "Welcome' in their native tongue. A sign proclaiming "Welcome," in 16 languages, has been erected in the baggage area. It was prepared by the Mid-America Bicentennial commission in connection with its project to 'Invite the World To Visit Mid-America in 1976". The "Welcomes" include not only the more widely used languages such as Spanish, French and German but also include Arabic, Indian, Hebrew, Chinese and Russian. Also included, of course, is Czech. Preparation of the sign actually took several weeks with Robert M. L. Johnson, the commission's project director, searching out language authorities in the community, at colleges and embassies. It even took some letters abroad for confirmation. "Part of the problem," Johnson said, "was that we wanted every one to say the same thing, 'Welcome,' not 'You are welcome,' 'Glad you are here,' 'Be welcome,' or other variations. And it's amazing what a difference one little curlycue. mark or letter can make!" Previously reported S In memory of Mrs. \nthony He So ii > ;i from Midland Forge, lur. John E.
