Marion Man Sentenced to 30 Days for Petty Larceny

Ronald D. Thompson 21 of 583 Seventh Avenue received a 30 day Linn County jail term in police court on a petty larceny charge. He and Terry R. Wells 19 of route 2 were accused of selling several cases of empty soda bottles stolen from a local service station. Wells awaits appearance before Judge Miles Adams on Thursday.

Two Injured in Marion Mishaps

A Marion youth, 11 year old Mark D. Floyd, was injured Tuesday afternoon when struck by a car on Seventh Avenue. He sustained head and leg injuries and remained under observation at St. Luke’s Hospital in fairly good condition. The driver was Thomas C. Point, 29, of Cedar Rapids and the incident is under investigation. A second accident later that evening on Eighth Avenue and Tenth Street injured Roland Waters, 35, who was treated and released. The Waters incident is also under investigation.
