NE Put Back in TV Bill After Senate Action
In Des Moines the bill authorizing 24 million dollars to expand statewide educational television to 1976 faced early Senate action after passing the house. The Appropriations Committee struck a substitute to label programs as public television rather than educational, while amendments shifted between sponsors and subcommittees. The measure provides 24 million dollars for 1972-73 with about 2 million federal funds, supporting Des Moines KDIN and KEIN to extend service to more counties. The bill passed the committee with 24 to 1 support and awaits floor consideration with key figures Sen. Balloun and Sen. Stephens among protagonists and critics.
