College Was Confined To Campus For Coeds Of Gay Nineties
ART SNIDER recalls Coe College in Cedar Rapids where strict rules governed private life and study. Coeds faced chapel, limited social life, no dances except on special occasions, and forbidden rides or smoking. Campus life centered on caution, walks, reading plays aloud, and simple seasonal entertainments under parental authority.
