A contractor digging near Cottage Grove Parkway and First Avenue SE cut a US West cable affecting about 300 of 900 lines. The outage hit Cottage Grove Place and Sutherland Square residents, with McLeod USA providing cellular phones during repairs. Service aimed to be restored by midnight.
