Kusier suffered head, rib, and back injuries.

Government seeks the death penalty for Victor Feguer in the July kidnap slaying of Dr. Edward R. Bartels of Dubuque. Prosecutor Van Alstine says Feguer abducted Bartels, forced him to a rural Illinois field, and shot him in the head after a promise not to harm him. Defense objects to some evidence but the gun is admitted. Jury of 12 heard testimony about the crime and potential punishment under federal law.
Arthur Clemmences and Nadia Clem mence appeal a February 14 special assessment totaling 1 093 dollars plus a 236 dollar storm sewer charge. The notice urges drivers to travel safely.
A man used a $20 bill to shortchange Mrs. Abe Mitchell at Mitchell's Surplus store and later tried the same trick at Leidigh's Standard station. The Cedar Rapids detective bureau says the suspect pulled a similar fast shuffle, leaving him about $10 ahead in the latter exchange. Detectives continue the investigation.

The Cedar Rapids Symphony Orchestra plans 8200 from May 1 to July 1 plus an estimated 11500 from ticket sales and ads. The panel discussed a cultural United Fund to pool arts funding and urged campaigns to file requests 90 days before planned announcements.

Services Saturday 9 30 am All Saints church with burial at St Johns Rosary recited Friday by Cadets of St George and All Saints parish members at Kuba funeral home.
Louis W. Barta 71 of 608 Eighteenth Ave SW Cedar Rapids died Wednesday after a short illness. Born November 28 1889 in College township he lived in Cedar Rapids 15 years. Surviving include three daughters Mrs Charles Cerveny Mrs Wesley Buresh Mrs Alvin Kilberger a son Louis L and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Services at Brush chapel then St. Ludmila's church with Father Zachar burial at St. John's cemetery. Rosary Friday 7 30 p.m. Friends may call chapel Friday.
Mrs. Frank Klouda 72 died in a Cedar Rapids hospital after a short illness. Born Margaret Mackey March 9 1888 near Ely she lived there most of her life. Survived by husband married May 1 1906 two daughters Mrs Keith Stark Salinas California and Mrs James Bizek Ely two sons William Cedar Rapids and Thomas Salinas eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren and a sister Mary Mackey Cedar Rapids. Services 11 Saturday and 11 30 at St Patrick s Church Reverend Robert J McDonald. Burial St Johns Cemetery. Rosary 8 pm Thursday at the chapel where friends may call.
Raymond D. Mitchell 34 a former Cedar Rapids resident and Coe College graduate died Sunday in Champaign Indiana. Services were held Wednesday at Holy Cross Church in Champaign. Survivors include his wife and son, three Cedar Rapids sisters Genevieve Mitchell Mrs Joe Cepowski and Mrs Donald Washburn and another sister Mrs Sam Holmes of Monticello.
August R. Hultgren aged 73 a Cedar Rapids resident for 50 years died in a nursing home after a brief illness. Born August 23 1877 in Sweden he worked as a maintenance man for the police department before retirement. Surviving brother Martin of Chicago.

Mr. Hultgren belonged to St. James Methodist church and the American Legion and served in the Canadian army in World War I. Funeral service is at Turner chapel at 10 30 Saturday by Dr Ralph J Barron with burial at Oak Hill. Friends may call at the chapel.
Ella Thomas Irminger died early Thursday at age 81, widow of Samuel E. Irminger. Born June 17, 1886 in Clay County Missouri, she lived with daughter Mrs John Troxel at 525 Valley Brook Dr SE. Survived by daughter Mrs Carl Morris of West Lafayette Indiana two sons Roy and Willard Irminger of Kansas City Missouri two brothers Walter of Elmhurst Illinois and Lloyd Lilly of Moore Haven Florida a sister Mrs M A Summers of Plantation Florida and eight grandchildren. She was a Baptist. Body moved from Turner Chapel to Pasley Funeral Home Liberty Missouri. Services set at Second Baptist Church Liberty Monday afternoon with burial at Fairview Cemetery.
Mrs. Jack Lecker formerly of Cedar Rapids died recently in Kenosha Wisconsin where she had lived the past 18 months with her mother Mrs Arthur Bleicher. She had been in ill health since suffering severe burns in a February 1956 fire and burial took place in Streator Illinois.
Chris Ness a Cedar Rapids carpenter for many years died in Tacoma Washington Monday from a heart ailment. He moved to Tacoma 14 years ago leaving behind wife Ellen Swan two daughters Mrs C A Schroder of Auburn Washington and Mrs William Judd of Sacramento California and six grandchildren. Services and burial were in Tacoma.

New York AP report says actor John Payne, 48, was hit by a car driven by Bernard Selz, 21, as he crossed Madison Avenue between 61st and 62nd streets in rain. He suffered a fractured left leg, multiple lacerations, and possible internal injuries and was taken to Roosevelt Hospital. The driver was questioned and released. Payne starred in the TV Western Restless Gun for two years and had a 25 year film career.
Cannes AP reports France launched its first tolled expressway, a 14.3 mile road along the Riviera, marking a new toll-based transportation route in the region.

James Vaughan of Square D told 150 industry leaders at a Sheraton event that Cedar Rapids jobs depend on strong youth agencies. The Industrial Section aims to raise 110000 for the YMCA YWCA and Community House, waging door to door outreach to about 28000 workers with a March 9 Roosevelt Hotel kickoff.
