Gov and Mrs Rockefeller escaped from the 40 room mansion as a basement fire grew to the second floor gallery. Valuables including portraits by Stuart and Sully and Picasso drawings were saved or damaged with losses estimated around 500000 dollars. Firemen controlled the blaze in about an hour and no injuries were reported.
