The Iowa Department of Agriculture confirmed a new avian influenza case in a Sioux County dairy herd, marking the eighth dairy cow outbreak in the state. Six of the eight dairy cases are in Sioux County, with others in O'Brien and Plymouth counties. Officials say dairy products remain safe, and mild human risk persists. Governor Reynolds issued a disaster proclamation for six counties affected by severe weather, enabling state resource use and triggering grant programs with up to 5,000 dollars for eligible households. Andre Johnson, 19, faces multiple charges after an April 9 shots fired call in the 2400 block of Walden Road. Police recovered .40 caliber casings and evidence of property damage as surveillance and messages tied Johnson to the shooting. He is jailed on other charges with bail set at 29000 dollars.
