In Echanicsville on May 13 Sally Freeman watched a lightning strike ignite a wind turbine built in 2012. The blade failed and the nacelle caught fire, burning the turbine above a cornfield. Debris remains as the family recalls a similar lightning blaze 14 months earlier.

Marion man accused of killing four demands speedy trial
Luke Wade Truesdell 34 is charged with four counts of first degree murder for bludgeoning four people to death with a metal pipe. He filed a not guilty plea and seeks a speedy trial to begin within 90 days. Arraignment set for next Tuesday in Linn County District Court. The state obtained a subpoena for bank and video records to interview witnesses in the investigation.
