Superman III review finds magic missing in spots
New York Times critic Janet Maslin notes the film stars Christopher Reeve and Richard Pryor and unfolds in Metropolis with a mix of humor and computer intrigue. Pryor's role as a down on his luck dishwasher turned hacker alongside Robert Vaughn's wealthy CEO provides the film's edge, while Lois Lane and Lana Lang appear in subplots. The movie blends action with a milder, less zany tone than past installments, ending with a climactic clash between Clark Kent and Superman.
