Appeals court upholds former Cedar Rapids broker conviction
The Iowa Court of Appeals affirmed Alan Lucas's 25 year sentence for ongoing criminal conduct and first degree theft after he fled to Wisconsin and did not appear for trial. The ruling rejected claims of insufficient evidence and ineffective counsel while noting Lucas was required to be present for trial. Lucas previously bought Covenant Investment Fund from Noah Aulwes and used almost $190,000 for personal expenses.
