Government will not create do not spam registry
Washington AP The Bush administration ruled out a national do not spam registry to curb unsolicited e mail. FTC chair Timothy Muris warned such a list could be misused for targeting victims and said regulators would be unable to reliably identify spammers. Senator Schumer called the decision disappointing and urged broader authentication tech to curb spam. Regulators argued without origin authentication a registry would fail to reduce spam burden.
