Delbert Banowetz’s case against Iowa Agriculture Secretary Robert Lounsberry was dismissed by Judge C. H. Pelton for improper service and lack of a viable claim. Banowetz had challenged a prohibition on selling unpasteurized milk direct to consumers and had been enjoined from such sales, though that injunction was later lifted.
Jeannie Wurzer of Fort Atkinson was named Fayette County dairy princess with Ge lda Lehmann of Elgin as runner up before 530 at Upper Iowa University. Other honors went to Sheldon Fox Randalia as distinguished dairyman, Jerry Jellings Oelwein as young distinguished dairyman, Forest Hamlett Lamont as an appreciation award winner. Dairy production awards went to Bob Breitsprecher Lamont for three records including lifetime milk and butterfat, and James Stewart Oelwein for lifetime butterfat.

The Friday deadline caps a statewide push though groups like dairymen and 4 H members show uneven participation.
