Question on fodder acre use unsettled in drought relief
Special to The Gazette reports a census of opinion among crop reduction contract signers and others on whether fodder crops may be grown unrestricted on contracted acres. Chester Davis, AAA administrator, says no definite decision yet but sufficient acreage exists to raise fodder without using contracted land. Murray Reports 72 Percent Gain In Cheese Making
DES MOINES AP. The town cheese industry rose 72 percent in 1933 over 1932, with total output at 1,491,822 pounds worth 188,321.37 dollars. Ray Murray Iowa secretary of agriculture cited cheese as a partial solution to dairy surpluses as Iowa consumes far less per person than many nations and imports 60 million pounds yearly. A state revenue drop cut oleomargarine and tax stamps sales, yet dairymen sold over 600,000 pounds of butter in 1933.
