A reader notes that the wealthy in Iowa plan to spend and enjoy money while possible amid fears taxes and confiscation. He contends redistribution is a federal aim but unlikely to proceed uniformly, warning of drastic economic changes and urging practical leadership to recover from debt.
The Cedar Rapids Made in Cedar Rapids Exposition runs June 24 to 30 with factory tours and displays showing corn processing and by products. Visitors will see furniture cereals packinghouse products and machinery from local plants and watch industrial tours on June 26 and 27. A Sunday regatta at Ellis Park opens the week, drawing 15 000 spectators and featuring the Queen crowning and a morning parade.
Chicago report describes a large aquatic animal seen near the Seventy third street beach. Lighthouse keeper A C Pierce and assistant Irving Carlson observed the creature about 100 feet away, surfacing with whiskers and later carrying a perch. The Leaf couple near the beach saw a sea lion or seal like animal with a long nose.

The state department ruled that the prohibition on arms and munitions sales to Paraguay and Bolivia does not apply to deals completed before the presidential proclamation. The notes were sent to both countries on Saturday.

Secretary of Agriculture Henry Wallace says a national seed stock is needed as drought areas face serious shortages next year. Estimates indicate 15 million bushels spring wheat, 40 million oats, and 10 million barley required for seed.
San Francisco officials and union leaders announced a pact ending a 38 day Pacific coast longshoremen strike. Joseph P. Ryan said workers will return to ports Monday after recognition of the IL A for collective bargaining and joint control of hiring halls. A coast wide vote by IL A members will determine official end of the strike.
Washington report notes the licensing provision of the NIRA expired Saturday after a year with no licenses issued. It allowed the President to license businesses refusing to operate under fair competition codes, but none were licensed. The extension would let revocation of licenses, and penalties could include fines or imprisonment. Administrator Hugh S. Johnson did not seek a renewal.
The Senate faced a delaying filibuster as speeches mounted against a farm debt moratorium bill backed by Democratic leaders. Republican regulars and some eastern Democrats joined in opposition, with Hebert Metcalf of Rhode Island Hastings of Delaware and Longran of Connecticut among speakers delaying action on the measure.
The house completed action on the administration compromise labor disputes bill by accepting senate amendments. It now goes to the White House. It also approved the conference report on the direct loans to industry bill. Senate approval will send this measure to the White House.
