Cedar Rapids City Council Approves Several Public Works and Zoning Measures
The Cedar Rapids city council last week overruled sidewalk project plans in Jensen Avenue SW and advanced bids for sanitary sewer work on Edgewood road NW and Cedar Lane area. A contract for water works improvements was awarded to Hennessey Brothers, Inc. for 814,515 dollars. Linn County proposed annexation of Greenfield, Suburban, Addison, and Oakwood avenues. Other actions included basement issue on Twenty first Street SW, vacating land near Tyler School, and filing health department reports. The final plat of Westgate unit was approved, plus amendments to Cedar Lake urban renewal contracts. A sidewalk permit, street fund items, and various rezoning requests were noted, along with a fireworks permit for Stand at Standish Park and travel for Detective Byrne to Center Point.
