Belly Furness nears NBC Today co host role with unknown duties
Hollywood reporting notes Belly Furness, aged 60, hired as a temporary replacement for Barbara Walters on NBC Today. She has yet to meet the new producer or learn on air duties and worries about age bias in a youth oriented TV industry. Furness hopes viewer letters will win a permanent spot by September and cites her authority and experience. The piece also covers film industry notes on Richard Shepherd’s Love and Other Crimes Oscar campaign plans, Joel McCrea’s Mustang Country return, George Hamilton’s studio buyout chatter, George Peppard filming Damnation Alley, and other Hollywood moves.
