Garner couple awarded 1.8 million in drunken driving crash
Kris and Jim Jackson were awarded 300000 in actual damages and 1500000 in punitive damages by a Webster County District Court jury after a December 8 1984 head-on collision. The award follows a five day trial against the driver’s estate and a cousin owner of the car. The couple’s attorney said the punitive sum may be among the largest in the area and noted possible appeals.
