Obscenity case seeks injunction over Mabie wares in Lincoln
Lancaster County Attorney filed for a declaratory judgment in district court to ban sale or delivery of about three dozen items seized by Lincoln police. Jerry Mabie of Marion Iowa faces the suit which seeks a permanent injunction and labels the material obscene lewd and indecent with no redeeming social value. Mabie transported the items in a rented truck for potential two store openings in Lincoln. The action may conclude within two weeks or proceed to a September term if Mabie requests a jury trial.

ESTHERVILLE AP The city manager and five other officials quit Wednesday amid a dispute with the city council over a pavement repair project and housing code enforcement in migrant-worker housing. Charles Bernard said council members accused him of harassing local businessmen. resignations included Bernard and five department heads. Mayor Linn Federberg said they wanted to run the whole show.

Bonfield Named To Hold Murray Chair at Iowa
Iowa City Prof. Arthur E. Bonfield, specialist in constitutional and administrative law, is named John F. Murray Professor in the University of Iowa College of Law. Since 1968 he has held the Iowa Law School Foundation professorship and joined the faculty in 1962. Bonfield drafted Town's civil rights law in 1965 and an amendment in 1967 on fair housing. He earned Yale law degrees before joining the University of Iowa.
