Iowa Electric Light and Power officials said they are exploring with Iowa Power and Light the construction of a second nuclear generation plant in central Iowa at about 500 million dollars. The Palo plant may double as a future option but would raise transmission costs. Environmental hearings and AEC reviews are required before initial Palo fuel loading in July 1973.
