Bodine Dies At Iowa City
Dr. Joseph H. Bodine 59 head of the University of Iowa zoology department died Friday in University Hospitals after being struck ill at the hospital Wednesday. He had led the zoology department since 1928 and was director of Lakeside Laboratory at Lake Okoboji for 20 years. Born September 19 1895 in Lake Hopatcong New Jersey he earned a BA in 1915 and a PhD from the University of Pennsylvania in 1928. He was one of two current SUI faculty elected to the National Academy of Science. Surviving are his wife and a son. Funeral arrangements pending.

A nest building bird at the Linwood substation caused a power outage in southwest Cedar Rapids, cutting electricity for 18 minutes to 3 hours. 13 Year Old Cedar Rapids Boy Suffocates in Farm Oats Bin
A Cedar Rapids boy, Steven Doling, 13, visiting grandparents two miles south of Calumet Iowa, suffocated in an oat bin on Thursday afternoon. The boy was the son of Mr and Mrs Kenneth Doling of 221 Twenty sixth Street Northwest. He stayed with grandparents Mr and Mrs Fred Engser. The body was found buried under several feet of oats after a missing-signal search. Funeral services will be announced later.
