The piece argues that Massachusetts enacted a 1.3 billion tax increase, nearly half Iowa's state budget, amid broader criticisms of federal spending. It notes Dukakis’s tenure at the statehouse and questions who would be blamed by Congress Democrats for rising taxes if he had won in 1988.
The piece questions Gov. Mario Cuomo's hesitation before signing a June 30 bill to outlaw dwarf tossing and dwarf bowling, noting Florida bans the acts and South Carolina debated a ban. It criticizes the governor's delay and calls for immediate prohibition.

The letter cites misattributions for Motley Crue Whitesnake Led Zeppelin and Ratt and offers to provide objective reviews at no cost to The Gazette.
