Rainy season delays slow Cedar Rapids area construction
Rain slows work for P & M Systems and Dunn Construction as ground remains too wet for paving and sod. Some sites, including the Hidden Hollow area and 12th Street, see outdoor delays though interior house work progresses. IDOT officials warn rain could extend delays, but patching on I 80 and I 380 proceeds as scheduled.

Rains Delay Downtown Cedar Rapids Brickwork
City engineer Lee Tippe says bricklaying across Second Street intersections is three weeks behind schedule due to wet weather. Crews aim to finish Second Street improvements by early September with work on Third Avenue by end of September and possible early October. First Avenue near the Five Seasons Center will narrow traffic lanes later this season as resurfacing and curb work on 22nd Street NW slips several weeks.
