Davenport man Ervin Sindt offers 3000 dollars as his life savings to help arrest the hit and run driver who killed his 18 year old son Douglas Sindt. Douglas was struck while walking home on Highway 22 on June 23. Sindt notes he is still grieving another son, Rodney, who died in 1986. Police report the fatality occurred on Highway 22.
Iowa epidemiologist says new AIDS cases appear to level off while chlamydia cases rise from 2819 in the first half of 1989 to 3733 in 1990. Details on page 2A.

The Labor Department proposes mandatory seat belt use for private industry employees who drive or ride in work vehicles and helmet use for all motorcyclists on the job. The rules could save up to 700 lives yearly, covering 5.4 million companies and 35 million workers with an 120 day comment period.
