Board Won't Seek Opinion on Ballantyne Salary Cap
Kirkwood Community College Supt Selby Ballantyne will not receive an attorney general opinion on his salary and fringe benefits. The board condemned the law capping superintendent pay at 25,000 and urged legislative change, defending its private contract and stating Ballantyne is underpaid under the current ceiling. The panel blamed lawmakers for the rule and pledged a political effort to remove the cap. No comparable limits exist for K-12 districts.
