The Trinidad Tripoli Steel Band may perform at the All-Iowa fair as one of their final U S appearances before disbanding and returning to Trinidad. The group canceled later bookings, including a Peoria Illinois date, after fair manager Billy Greiner learned of the decision.
Evening events include the Quality Park contest at 7 p.m. and final performances by Trinidad Tripoli Steel Band and Sound Generation at 7:30 p.m. Grandstand shows feature All-Girl Auto Thrill and dancing at The Looking Glass. Morning through afternoon showcase 4-H and FFA livestock judging in various arenas and marionette shows in Fun 2.
The Trinidad Tripoli Steel band performed twice at the All-Iowa fair with 1000 attendees in the afternoon and 2000 in the evening, though several group members were absent and unaccounted for in Cedar Rapids. Governor Robert Ray spoke on government scrutiny during a luncheon with Eastern Iowa mayors. The band concludes Wednesday at 7 30 PM followed by Sound Generation.

City Assessor Dale Piersall says the six unions and Geneva Tower do not meet Iowa code provisions for nonprofit benevolent organizations. Meth-Wick Manor had prior exemption denied but later granted by the board. Unions affected include Cedar Rapids and Iowa Plumbers and Steam Fitters, Teamsters, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Brotherhood of Carpenters, Machinists Realty Co, and United Packinghouse Workers with properties on various streets. The ruling reflects different corporate structures and eligibility criteria.
