Aiding officer Harry Wagner was killed. a bystander and others were wounded. Search extended across Indiana Ohio and Illinois.
Clarence Darrow told a New York audience that he hopes Adolf Hitler is killed. The remark came as members of the New York County Lawyers Association discussed events in Germany and the American inquiry commission unofficially sought to "try" Hitler's regime, after a chat with Mayor LaGuardia.

Kennedy denied a dispute and did not explain the GOPs absence.
