Twenty five Coe College skiers arrived at Balsam Lodge in Hayward Wisconsin after a five car trek through sub zero conditions and deep drifts. They found shelter and a warm welcome then planned a Saturday trip to Mt Telemark nine miles away for the day’s skiing under clear skies. Drug Addict Targets Chicago Doctors in Theft Spree
In Chicago a drug addict robs doctors and a dentist to obtain narcotics. He bound Dr. M. L. Weinstein, the nurse, and three patients, then forced a drugstore order for cocaine. In Alaska a missionary, Rev. Everett Batchelder, on a mercy mission from Wasilla to Chitina, endured four days with a dog team trapped by deep snow as about ten wolves surrounded the camp. He lost all but two dogs, watched a third dog be killed, and finally reached Chickaloon lodge with one canine companion. Airman Elmer Rasmussen located the wreckage.
